William Cull, Jr. Obituary

William Judson Cull, Jr., 55, passed away on August 15, 2024 in Bethesda, Maryland. Bill was born July 4, 1969 in Cleveland, Ohio. He is survived by his former wife, Mary (Stetler) Cull and their children, William III, Harris, Eleanor and Francis, his parents William and Anne, siblings Dan (Marcia) Cull, Brian (Kerem) Cull, and Michelle (Cull) Lease (Peter) along with seven nieces and nephews.

Bill grew up in Chagrin Falls, Ohio and attended Chagrin Falls High School. He studied political science at the University of Cincinnati where he joined the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Bill graduated from John Carroll University in 1993. After college, Bill pursued his love of politics and government by working on Capitol Hill. He successfully ran high-profile Congressional and State Senate campaigns and served on the staff of those same elected officials.

In 1998, Bill entered local government and worked alongside longtime mayor Gregory P. Kurtz, serving as the Director of Economic Development for the City of Independence, Ohio. Bill then became a trailblazer in the e-government movement of the early 2000s, leading award-winning e-government programs for the cities of San Francisco and City of San Diego. With leadership experience at the intersection of information technology and government service, Bill began a successful 20-year career in public sector software sales, where he facilitated growth for companies serving various government agencies within the national defense and intelligence communities. He developed sales organizations as a senior executive at IBM, Oracle, Splunk, Palo Alto Networks, and most recently at SpyCloud as their Vice President of Federal Sales.

Bill loved his country and showed his support for the U.S. Military by fundraising on behalf of the Navy Seal Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project, in addition to serving as a business mentor to members of the naval special operations community transitioning back to civilian life. His love was notably affectionate. The warmth of his presence and the memory of his humor will be cherished forever. He will be remembered as a resilient and charismatic soul, who lived to spend time with his family and friends, and he will be dearly missed by all.
