Calixto Mendoza Obituary

Calixto Mendoza, 75, died of post-surgery complications July 1, 2020, at George Washington University Hospital. He was born September 7, 1944, in Panama City, Panama, the son of Marco Mendoza and Delia Roman.

On August 7, 1964, he married the love of his life, Edith Velez, of Mendoza. Last August, they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Wanting a better life for his wife and their four children, Calixto relocated the Mendoza Family to the United States in 1981. The family eventually settled in New York, where after a few years, Calixto worked as a building superintendent for more than 20 years before moving to Maryland to enjoy retirement.

A die-hard Mets, Redskins and boxing fan, he enjoyed spending time with his family, spoiling his grandchildren, telling stories, dancing, laughing, eating, shopping and traveling.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Arnulfo Mendoza.

Surviving in addition to his wife Edith Mendoza, are his daughter Tatiana Castro and her husband, Leonel Castro; his sons, Calitxo Mendoza Jr. and his wife Kasiran Khan-Mendoza, Pedro Mendoza and his wife Miriam Mendoza, Erubey Mendoza and his wife Patricia Mendoza; ten grandchildren, Erick Castro, Raiza McDuffie (along with her husband Kyle McDuffie), Jean Carlos Mendoza, Jor-El Mendoza, Jordan Mendoza, Kaylani Mendoza, Calise Mendoza, Camila Mendoza, Mateo Mendoza, Santiago Mendoza; two great grandchildren, Elijah Castro and Margerie Mendoza; and countless more family and friends.

A service of remembrance will be live stream 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 7th. Interment will be at Gate to Heaven Cemetery at 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD.

BELTSVILLE - Calixto Mendoza, de 75 años, murió de complicaciones postoperatorias el 1 de Julio de 2020, en el Hospital de la Universidad George Washington. Nació el 7 de Septiembre de 1944 en la ciudad de Panamá, Panamá, hijo de Marco Mendoza y Delia Roman.

El 7 de Agosto de 1964, se casó con el amor de su vida, Edith Velez, de Mendoza. En Agosto pasado, celebraron 60 años de matrimonio. Deseando una vida mejor para su esposa y sus cuatro hijos, Calixto trasladó a la familia Mendoza a los Estados Unidos en 1981. La familia finalmente se estableció en Nueva York, donde después de unos años, Calixto trabajó como superintendente de edificios por más de 20 años antes de mudarse a Maryland para disfrutar de la jubilación.

Un apasionado de los Mets, Redskins y del boxeo, disfrutaba pasar tiempo con su familia, malcriar a sus nietos, contar historias, bailar, reír, comer, ir de compras y viajar.

Además de sus padres, fue fallecido por un hermano, Arnulfo Mendoza.

Sobreviviendo además de su esposa Edith Mendoza, están su hija Tatiana Castro y su esposo, Leonel Castro; sus hijos, Calitxo Mendoza Jr. y su esposa Kasiran Khan-Mendoza, Pedro Mendoza y su esposa Miriam Mendoza, Erubey Mendoza y su esposa Patricia Mendoza; diez nietos, Erick Castro, Raiza McDuffie (con su esposo Kyle McDuffie), Jean Carlos Mendoza, Jor-El Mendoza, Jordan Mendoza, Kaylani Mendoza, Calise Mendoza, Camila Mendoza, Mateo Mendoza, Santiago Mendoza; dos bisnietos, Elijah Castro y Margerie Mendoza; y incontables más familiares y amigos.

Un servicio de recordación se llevará a cabo a las 11 a.m. del martes 7 de Julio en Snowden Funeral Home. La internación será en el cementerio Gate to Heaven en 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD.
