Christine Bell was born in Sandersville, Georgia, on May 6, 1928, to Arthur Bell and Mamie Hayles Bell. Christine, their 5th child was one of 7 born. She had three brothers, Arthur (Sonny), Elmer-Christopher (EC), & Tinesy, along with three sisters, Naomi, Maudestine & Willie Mae. Maudestine is her only living sibling.
Christine accepted Jesus Christ into her heart at a young age. She enjoyed athletics, playing on her high school’s basketball and tennis teams. Her mother died from an accident when Christine was eleven. After graduating from high school, her family relocated from Sandersville, GA, to Detroit, MI. There relatives could help take care of her father, who had become recently disabled due to a construction site accident.
School came easy to Christine, earning a full academic scholarship to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). However, she was unable to take this, as she needed to help take care of her father. She instead enrolled and studied at the Detroit Institute of Technology (DIT) which was local.
Flynn Mack Wells married Christine in 1951. Together they had 3 children, Michael, Brian and Kathy. Over time they moved from Detroit, MI, to Lansing, MI, to Silver Spring, MD. Chris and Flynn divorced in 1992. Christine was an active and faithful member of her beloved Pilgrim Church for approximately 50 years.
Christine enjoyed working retail, and she was a long-time, active real estate agent until the age of 85. She was an avid bowler, and enjoyed civic projects with the Red Hats and Emanon’s women’s organizations. In 2019 she moved to Mesa, Arizona with her sister, Maudestine.
Christine was predeceased by her daughter, Kathy Lynn Wells. She is survived by Maudestine Bell (sister), Michael Flynn Wells-son (wife Jeannette), Brian Keith Wells-son (wife Carol), Michael Shadoan Wells-grandson, Jennifer Wells Simmons-granddaughter (husband Michael), Timothy Brian Wells-grandson, James Keith Wells-grandson, along with great-granddaughters Leah Marie Wells & Michayla Jennae Simmons, and great-grandson Maddox Glenn Simmons.
