Delondre Sawyer Obituary

Delondre Levert Sawyer, affectionately known as “Lonnie,” peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, February 8, 2024. Born to Robert and Catherine Sawyer on May 15, 1988, in Silver Spring, Maryland, Lonnie was a cherished member of his family and church community all over.

Lonnie received his education in the Montgomery County Public School system and later pursued a career as a maintenance/HVAC technician with private industries. Known for his passion and dedication, Lonnie approached his faith with a commitment that inspired those around him. A loving father, son, brother, and uncle, Lonnie had a profound impact on all who knew him. His infectious smile and boundless energy lit up every room he entered. Lonnie was passionate about music and once established his own GOGO band, Highly Miss Judged "HMJ," with practice sessions often held in his basement. Known for his strong opinions, Lonnie was always up for a lively debate, firmly believing he was right. Lonnie was a devoted fan of the Washington Commanders and the Pelicans, a passion inspired by his nephew.

A man of deep faith, Lonnie's love for Jesus was evident in everything he did. He was a pillar of strength and compassion, always ready with a word from the Lord, a heartfelt prayer, or a uplifting song for those in need. Lonnie's journey of faith began at a young age, and he was baptized at Emmanuel Temple Church of the Apostolic Faith under the leadership of Pastor Eric Jefferson. He played the drums at Fellowship Baptist Church and recently rededicated his life back to God at Crusader Baptist Church of God.

Lonnie leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted parents, Robert and Catherine Sawyer; his beloved daughters, Delahni Ty’sean Sewell-Sawyer (his twin) and Jae’lynn Malahni Sewell- Sawyer; his brother, Robert Sawyer Jr.; his sister, Jasmine Hawkins (Craig Hawkins); four nieces; four nephews; and a host of cousins, family, and friends. He will be especially remembered by his devoted partner, Tayjha Sewell, his favorite nephew, Jordan Hawkins, and his close childhood friends, Michael Wilson, and Shawn Perry.

Lonnie's love knew no bounds, and he always made sure his family knew how much he loved them. His spirit, his laughter, and his memories will forever be etched in our hearts.

Lonnie will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire us all.
