Inez Campbell Obituary

Inez Russell Campbell was born on September 17, 1921, in Inverness, St. Anns, Jamaica, West Indies. Inez was born to the late Alfred Russell and lcilda Nelson. She was the eldest daughter of fourteen children, figuratively and literally the second mother to all of her siblings.

Inez was raised in Inverness, Jamaica and graduated from Charleston School now, known as Alexandria School. Inez loved the Lord and was baptized at an early age. She was the spiritual glue that kept that generation together. From a humble beginning, the legacy was passed down to her and instilled at a young age to always trust in the Lord. Trained as a seamstress, Inez was the first in her generation to not only leave Inverness, but to leave the entire island, migrating to London, England.

While in England Inez, met the love of her life, the late Joslyn L. Campbell, who also emigrated from Montego Bay, Jamaica, West Indies. Joslyn and Inez married in holy matrimony in 1956, and from this union two sons were born, Desley and Eggerton. Inez embodied "grace" throughout her life. She taught her sons the importance of putting God first, the value of family, always doing your best, and setting high goals in everything th at we do.

Inez loved to play the pi ano, sing gospel hymns, and was an ardent rea der. In 1970, the family immigrated to the Bronx, New York. She was employed for many years as a nurse's aide at the Daughters of Jacob Senior Care Nursing Facility in the Bronx, NY. In 1975, the Central Bureau for the Jewish Aged awarded Inez with the prestigious "Libby Asofsky Humanitarian Award " for sustained, outstanding service.

Inez served as a Deaconess for many years at Grace Baptist Church, Bronx, New York and received an award for her dedicated service to the community and the church.  Inez was a living example of a virtuous woman, passing on the legacy to the next generation through her spirit filled actions.

On March 1, 2019, she completed her earthly journey, together reward in Heaven. Inez gained her wings on her late husband's birthday. They are back together again. What a love story! Their legacy will live on in all who knew them.

Inez leaves to cherish her memory, her two sons Desley and Eggerton (Shari); four sisters, Gene, Ditta, Elaine, and Elsey; two grandchildren, Maya and Christian; a host of in-laws (both sides of family), cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
