Joseph Harriday Obituary

Joseph Harriday was born on November 29, 1953 in Sandy Spring, Maryland to the late Archie "Jerry" Bell and the late Sadie Harriday. Joe departed this life peacefully on Friday, August 30, 2019 in his home in Germantown, Maryland.

He grew up in Sandy Spring, Maryland and attended Montgomery County. Public School. His place of employment over the years included working for Millard Oland, driving trucks, Montgomery County Public Schools and later retiring from the Town of Kensington. Joe resided in Frederick County for 18 years until moving back to Montgomery County to be closer to his family, so they all helped care for him.

Joe loved his family and lived his life to the fullest. He loved spending time with his grandkids, often referring to Jazmyn (Lu) as his private nurse and Trevon (Buddy Roe) who always prank called him weekly. He loved watching "Andy Griffin", listening to music (R&B classic) and dancing.  He was known to many of his friends as the dancing bear. He was always the life of the party. He enjoyed hanging out with lifelong friends Edward (Hoss) Taylor and the late Malcolm Thomas. They were known as "The Three Stooges." He also enjoyed hanging with his good friend and neighbor in Frederick, Gene Dorsey.

He leaves to cherish his memory : two devoted daughters ; Michele and Charisse Harriday, two grandkids; Jazmyn Mitchell and Trevon Jackson, two sisters Mamie Anderson and Janie Phelps, two brother-in- law Dennis Carroll Sr. and Tommy Anderson Sr and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and a good friend Margaret Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Phyllis Carroll, brother Edwin Harriday, niece Sharon Carroll and nephew Dennis Carroll Jr.
