Linwood Jackson, Sr. Obituary

Linwood William Jackson Sr. was born on July 26,1943 to Eugene and Bertha Jackson in Colesville, MD. The youngest of five (four brothers and one sister) he was known to close friends as "Jack". He was a man of few words, but when he talked everyone listened. He had an infectious laugh and smile that made everyone around him feel at home.

Linwood attended Good Hope Union United Methodist Church for many years as a young man growing up and there, he established his family roots in raising their two children. Linwood was educated in Montgomery County Public Schools and graduated from Sherwood High School in 1961(The first integrated class in the area). He then went on to serve his country in the Vietnam war from 1965- 1967 and remained active until 1973. Linwood's work ethic was unmatched while being employed with The Montgomery County Public School System for 26 years. He also worked with his brother hauling wood and delivering to nearby vendors around the Colesville area. Linwood enjoyed singing, especially the Gospel. He sang with the male choir of Good Hope U.M.C. On Sunday mornings he would listen to 96.3 Sunday morning Gospel with Patrick Ellis. Linwood was known for his superior fast pitch, unprecedented batting skills and his quick feet on the baseball diamond in his earlier years (He played for The US Army baseball team and was invited to try out for The Houston Astros). Linwood enjoyed fishing, baseball, basketball, and track and field. His favorite football team was The Ravens. He enjoyed traveling in the RV where he would meet up with a lot of his old buddies.

Linwood was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Bertha Jackson, daughter Stacy Jackson, his brothers: Harold Jackson Sr., Robert Kelly and sister Gladine Jackson. Linwood leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Ann Jackson of 46 years. His son Linwood Jackson Jr. grandchildren: Chelsea Jackson, Jabari Morris, and Ellyanna Jackson.
