Lois Ball Obituary

Lois LaVerne Strothers Ball, daughter of Waverly L. Strothers, Sr. and Evon Thompson Strothers was born on September 29, 1939 in Washington, Pennsylvania. She departed this life on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at the Layhill Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation, Silver Spring, Maryland.

Lois received her education in the Washington, Pennsylvania Public School System. She lived for a short period with her mother in Wheeling, West Virginia and afterwards came to the D.C area at the request of her sister, Annette, to cover for her nephew (C. Louis) and niece (Shawna) since the family was new to the area.

Lois met George (Tick) Ball, and they wed in June of 1968 and lived in Capital Heights , Maryland. Lois was baptized at Saint John United Missionary Baptist Church in 1990 and later joined Beulah Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board. She thoroughly enjoyed that position until her health would not permit her participation. After her retirement from private industry, Lois enjoyed participating in senior activities at Seat Pleasant Recreation Center. She enjoyed taking trips, attending concerts, and spending time with her family. She was always ready to go.

Although Lois smiled a lot, she was not the type to start a conversation. She was a friendly, quiet, and unassuming person but enjoyed friendly banter with friends. She developed a close relationship with her nephew, Little Pete , and looked to him for assistance with many of her affairs. She enjoyed arts and crafts and made beautiful beaded works, and also was adept at puzzles, word search, and solitaire . Near the end, although Lois toiled, she never complained. The family will miss her, but God knew best. May she rest in peace.

Lois is survived by her sister, Annette Napper (C. Louis, Sr.}; adopted sister, F. Celestine Thompson Smith; step siblings Selena Evans, Gail Harris, and Eric Brewer, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Lois was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers Ronald Strothers, Sr. and Waverly Strothers, Jr.; and a niece, Stephanie Jo Napper.
