Melva Grace Sutherland Brown was born on April 7, 1945, in Jamaica, West Indies. She was the daughter of Pearline Burrell and Daniel Sutherland.
She grew up in Jamaica and married Altamont Brown. She migrated to the United States and eventually moved her entire family to join her. She always made sacrifices for her children and grandchildren. She was a survivor, beating breast cancer. Eventually, she moved to Florida where she resided for the remainder of her life and succumbed to a second stroke.
Leaving to mourn their loss are her four remaining children and their spouses, Shirley, Wayne, Zoraida, Dawn, Horace, Bernadette and awaiting her arrival home is her beloved daughter Georgette; eight grandchildren, DéVon, Kristen, Zorina, Justin, Tyrone Jr., Zelina, Kasheim, Lathaniel and also awaiting her arrival home is baby Darius; six living brothers, Rupert, Delroy, Cecil, Michael, Derrick, and Leonard; her niece Jacqueline and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
