Scott Eric Emmons

On Thursday, February 25, 2021, Deputy Chief Scott Eric Emmons, at the age of 48, passed away from complications after a medical event he suffered on February 6, 2021.  

Chief Emmons joined the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department (RVFD) on May 29, 1991 as a student live-in at Station 31. Originally form Wallingford, CT, Chief Emmons served the RVFD for more than 30 years, rising through the ranks to become the Fire Chief in January 2011, an office he held until August of 2017.  Following his tenure as fire chief, Chief Emmons continued to serve the Department as a deputy chief.

Chief Emmons joined the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia in 1997, where he was currently serving as a detective assigned to the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.

Chief Emmons was well known in the fire service, and well respected by all that had the privilege to know and work alongside him.  He was a friend to all of who worked with him and a mentor to many. He was loved and will be missed more than words can express.

Chief Emmons is survived by his daughter, Emily Emmons; his fiancé Michelle Graves; father, Brian Emmons; mother, Susan Centmehaiey; brother, Ryan Emmons and sister, Ashley Emmons.
