Stanley Budd Obituary

Stanley William Budd, son of the late Ora Lucille Budd and Robert Awkward was born on June 22, 1940 and departed this life on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at the Sterling Care Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility in Rockville, MD.  Stanley was the oldest of eleven children.

Stanley or "Suppie" as he was most often called, received his education in the Montgomery County Public School system and was employed by various employers throughout his lifetime.  He was “a jack of all trades” – a carpenter, plumber, electrician, chef, seafood clerk, truck driver, heavy equipment operator and more.

Suppie loved entertaining and would frequently host family gatherings where he would cook and socialize until his health began to fail.  He fought his illness for quite a while, until he could no longer effectively and sufficiently care for himself.  He then went to reside with his dearly devoted friend and companion of many years, Ms. Carolyn Smith, who became his caregiver until his passing.

Stanley’s favorite past-times/hobbies included: camping at Indian Acres, going to Myrtle Beach, fishing, golfing, ‘peeping out’, playing cards, caring for stray animals and his desperate attempts at singing.  He also loved to watch TV; all the while yelling at it, especially channel MSNBC.  His favorite saying was “take it one day at a time.”

He leaves to cherish his memory, three children, Craig, Barbraette and Tonette Budd; a goddaughter, La’Tia Smith; a stepson, Andre Holland; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; one brother,  Albert Budd; six sisters, Theresa Adams, Shirley Davis (Andrew), Deborah Chaney (Chris), Gladys Adams, Mary Adams and Charlotte Selby (Gregory); three dear friends, Carolyn Smith, Francis Robinson and Elaine Offord and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceding in death by three siblings, Audrey, Aliece and Revelle.

In Memory

Those we love, remain with us, for love itself lives on.

Cherish memories never fade because the ones we love is gone.

Those we love can never be more than a thought apart,

For as long as there’s memories they will forever live in our hearts

Rest in peace, Suppie – you will be missed!
