Pastor Sylvia Carter Randolph, was born to Deacon Philip A. Smith and Mother Carrie Dyson Smith on October 21, 1961 in New York City. She is the older sister of Philip D. Smith. She attended New York City public schools and the Academy of Mt. St. Ursula High School. She later attended Potomac College in Washington, DC. She earned an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education (2007) and a Bachelor's Degree in Education (2009). She completed a variety of religious education and certification courses in New York and Maryland.
Pastor Randolph had a calling to preach on her life since she was a child. Her grandmother Minnie Dyson, took her to church and taught her about God. She was ordained in 1998 by Rev. James B. Barnwell at Greater Tabernacle Baptist Church (Harlem, NY). She was installed as Pastor of Christ Centered Ministries Baptist Church in August 2006. In April 2009, Pastor Randolph married her late husband, Deacon Walter Eugene Randolph, who assisted her in starting the church. Pastor Randolph loved the Lord and she had a soft heart for her congregation, youth and people in need. She taught the Word of God and encouraged others to know the Lord for themselves. Pastor Randolph was called home by her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on March 19, 2021.
She is survived by her parents: Deacon & Mother Smith; her brother: Philip; her daughters: Kathryne, Philaisha & Jocelinn; her grandchildren, Ellicia & Bryce; her son-in-law Will and his 4 children; her stepchildren; and a host of family members, friends, mentors and colleagues.
